GLASGOW ASSOCIATION FOR MENTAL HEALTH

Glasgow Association for Mental Health provides support to people experiencing mental health problems and their carers in Greater Glasgow. GAMH is committed to the principles of recovery and to raising awareness and understanding of mental health and well-being. We wish to appoint the following.

1 X VOLUNTEER CO-ORDINATOR – FULL TIME (REF: VC)

(MATERNITY LEAVE COVER)

35 hours per week

FIXED TERM TO 31 MARCH 2011

Salary Scale AP3/4 (£19,890- £24,927)

We require a Volunteer Coordinator based initially within the North Service Centre. The successful candidate will develop, train and supervise volunteer befrienders to support people with mental health problems. Support will be offered on an individual and group basis. It is essential that applicants have experience of supervising and supporting volunteers or staff. An understanding of the community development approach to practice is especially relevant to this post and the candidate must also be able to demonstrate a commitment to equalities and recovery. Applicants must be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working may be required. An SVQIII or equivalent is essential as is a knowledge of the SSSC’s Codes of Practice and the National Care Standards and how this framework applies to practice.

1 X GROUP BEFRIENDING CO-ORDINATOR - FULL TIME

(REF: GBC)

35 hours per week

FIXED TERM TO 31 AUGUST 2011

Salary Scale AP3/4 (£19,890- £24,927)

We require a full time Group Befriending Co-ordinator Worker to coordinate pilot befriending groups across our 5 Service Centres. This post is initially funded for one year. The main aim of the post is to develop a programme of collective participation opportunities for service users which will include accessing social, educational, leisure and physical activity resources in and across the five CHCP areas of our 5 Service Centre.

The worker will recruit and mentor a group of volunteers with a view to building capacity for the group to sustain the group beyond the initial first year.

An understanding of the community development approach to practice is especially relevant to this post and the candidate must be able to demonstrate a commitment to equalities and recovery. Applicants must be able to work flexibly; some early morning, evening and weekend working may be required.

The worker will be based within our West Service Centre.
