GAMH awarded "very good" ratings from care inspectorate
GAMH Community Outreach services have recently been inspected by the Care Inspectorate. The Inspection went extremely well and services achieved scores of 5 "Very Good" against all standards. The inspecting officer was very impressed with the standard of support planning and the range of participation opportunities that are on offer at GAMH, as well noting that we have a well motivated and trained workforce. He specifically commented on how effective our services to carers are and commended us on our strategy for engaging and including mental health carers in all aspects of support and participation.

Funding awarded - GAMH services for older people There have been significant achievements over the past months in the development of our Later Life work.

GAMH have been awarded £500,000 over five years from the Big Lottery to fund our Later Life Matters Project. This project aims to support older people with mental health problems to maintain their independence at home and increase connections with their local communities, This will include, as appropriate, the development of social networks, support to access health and other services, support to manage day-to-day circumstances, including housing and income and other independent living skills. Both one-to-one and group support will be available. This funding will allow us to continue to develop our support for people in later life who have mental health issues.

Calm Project 2011 award
Our CALM Project which provides Mindfulness Training and Complementary Therapies to older people and older carers has been awarded the Self Management Partnership of the Year Award by the Long Term Conditions Alliance Scotland.

This is a great achievement for the project and although the LTCAS funding has ended, the project can still offer mindfulness and complementary therapies to mental health carers due to a recent funding award from Shared Care Scotland's Short Breaks Fund.

Funding awarded - Young Carers
GAMH has been awarded the contract from NHSGCC Young Carers Mental Health Fund monies. This fund will secure the future of our Young Carers Project until March 2012 in the first instance and for a further 2 years dependent on monitoring and performance.

Funding awarded 8-12 project
GAMH have been awarded £10,000 to continue the work of our 8-12 year pilot in partnership with NHSGCC South Mental Health Improvement Team until March 2012. The overall aim of this work is to support and promote the mental health and emotional wellbeing of younger carers aged 8-12 years, living with an adult who has a mental health problem and who may themselves be affected or at risk of being affected by poor mental health.

This will enable GAMH Young Carers Project to develop and build on our learning based on the one year pilot programme (August 2010 - September 2011) for younger carers (8-12) in South East Glasgow. GAMH Young Carers Project will meet regularly with NHSGGC South Glasgow Health Improvement for guidance and support and to share learning.

Investors in people recognition award 2011
GAMH has received an award from Investors in People acknowledging our achievement in being continuously recognised as an Investors in People organisation for over 10 years. This confirmed the high levels of engagement, consultation and involvement of staff in determining the direction and vision of the organisation.

IIP Inspectors quotes:
"I found through discussions with staff and volunteers there is a clear understanding of the Association's purpose vision and key aims and of team and project objectives."

"There is a high level of engagement and consultation with the service users, managers, staff and volunteers on the objectives agreed in line with the overall purpose and vision of the Association."
