GAMH Young Carers Project promotes the mental health and wellbeing of young people (12 - 18 years) caring for a parent and/or living with an adult who has a mental health problem.

GAMH Young Carers Project currently provides groups for young carers in Glasgow which offer a safe environment young people to meet others in similar situations and to have:

  • time out from their situations to be young people first;
  • opportunities to participate in social, creative, learning, and physical activities;
  • opportunities to participate in consultations about young carers.

Young Carers are young people with all the hopes, dreams and talents of other young people and project activities aim to increase protective factors and build resilience, skills and confidence.

GAMH Young Carers Groups: 11 - 18 years
The project currently runs six young carers groups (five for 11 - 18 year olds and one group for 8 - 12 year olds in South Glasgow).

The project is able to link families with additional supports including GAMH adult services and through our partnership work with NHSGGC Health Improvement.
