At GAMH, we know that everyone’s mental health recovery journey is different. Our Individual Support service is here to help in a way that suits you.

We support individuals with their mental health recovery by helping them get more involved in their local community. You can take part in activities that help you manage your mental health and wellbeing. We also encourage you to build on your interests or enjoy hobbies you may have loved in the past.

You can get individual support through GAMH if you do not require long-term support or assistance. Alternatively, you can access long-term support by contacting social work services.

This support is also called Self-Directed Support. It means you have more choice and control over the help you get. If social work has assessed that you need support, you will be given a budget. This can be paid to you, or to an organisation like GAMH, to arrange your support. There are also options to self-refer to this service.

GAMH works with you and your support network to create a support plan that feels right for you. You choose how, when, and where you would like to be supported by GAMH in your mental health recovery.

Individual Support is always one-to-one, and we are here seven days a week – daytime, evenings, and weekends.

How to be referred to GAMH for Individual support

Individual Support from GAMH gives you the chance to create a plan that matches your mental health needs and goals. We check your plan with you often and make changes when needed. This makes sure the support continues to be helpful for you.

Our aim is to help you improve your mental wellbeing and move forward in your recovery.

GAMH team members are kind, skilled, and well-trained. Everyone goes through checks like the Protection of Vulnerable Adults Scheme (PVG) and completes a Preparation for Practice Induction Award. Our service is also registered with the Care Inspectorate. We are proud to have received very positive reports from them. You can read these in the Reports section.

Alongside one-to-one support, GAMH also runs Group Support. These sessions help you learn positive ways to look after your mental health. They give you a chance to be active, try new activities, and meet other people.
