Young Adult Mental Health Group

The Young Adult Mental Health Group is a free daytime programme in Glasgow for people aged 16 to 25. Run by GAMH, it offers support through weekly activities like music, baking, podcasting and creative arts.

The group helps young adults look after their wellbeing, make friends, and learn life skills in a safe and welcoming space. Referrals are made through support services such as social work, CAMHS, schools and local charities.

    Referral process

The GAMH Young Adult Mental Health Group (YAMH) is for young people aged 16 to 25 who are finding life hard because of mental health issues or emotional struggles.

It is a free daytime group in Glasgow. We meet every week and offer fun, positive activities that can help you feel better and more confident.

Some of the activities include:

  • Music
  • Podcasting
  • Baking
  • Creative arts.

The group focuses on four key areas:

  •  Looking after your mental health
  •  Making friends and connections, and
  •  Learning new skills for life.

How to join the GAMH Young Adult Mental Health Group.

The Young Adult Mental Health Group meets at the GAMH Community Hub in Charing Cross, Glasgow. It is a safe and welcoming place where everyone is accepted. You can spend time with other Young Adults or enjoy our activity sessions.

In the YAMH Group activity sessions, you can do things you already enjoy or try something new. Our partners organise themed sessions each week. You can join music sessions, try podcasting, or participate in creative arts activities run by Mind Waves.

Group members can also spend time with other young adults or join our Young Bakers workshop. It is fun, tasty, and helps you build life skills and teamwork.

The GAMH Community Hub has lots of spaces you can use, such as:

  • The café and kitchen
  • The podcasting studio
  • The tech room
  • Quiet spaces
  • A community garden and allotment

How to join the GAMH Young Adult Mental Health Group.

Life can feel tough if you are struggling with your mental health. You may feel low, alone, or lose confidence. By joining GAMH’s Young Adult Mental Health Group, we can help you:

  • Build confidence
  • Learn new skills
  • Make friends, and
  • Find new opportunities.

Our mental health group can give you hope for the future and help you on your recovery journey.

You can join the Young Adult Mental Health Group if you are:

  • Aged 16 to 25
  • Living in Glasgow, and
  • Experiencing mental health issues or emotional distress.

Got a question about the Group programme? Get in touch with our project coordinator.

You cannot refer yourself or a family member to the Young Adult Mental Health Group. A support worker or service needs to do this.

Referrals to the group can come from:

  • Social work services
  • CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services)
  • Youth health services
  • Education staff
  • Other charities and third sector organisations.

They will fill in a referral form on your behalf.
