Mental health and wellbeing training

GAMH provides mental health and wellbeing training to help people understand mental health, support others, and care for their own wellbeing. Our courses can include lived experience training, meaning that people with personal experience of mental health challenges share their real stories of recovery.

Our Mental health and wellbeing training is available for public, private, and third-sector organisations and community groups. Courses can be delivered in person across Glasgow and surrounding areas, or online.

Popular programmes include Mental Health Awareness, Wellbeing at Work, and our Bite Size Sessions on topics such as sleep, stress, and self-care. All courses aim to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and build confidence in talking about mental health.

    How to book training

At GAMH, we offer mental health and wellbeing training to help people learn about mental health, support others, and take care of their own wellbeing.

Some of our training is special because it is known as lived experience training. This means that it includes real stories or real people who have lived through mental health challenges and recovery. This helps make the learning honest, powerful, and easy to connect with.

GAMH mental health and wellbeing courses don’t just give you information – they help participants think, learn, and feel more confident talking about mental health.

Training aims to:

  • Break down stigma
  • Raise awareness, and
  • Show that recovery from mental health issues is possible for everyone.

GAMH’s mental health and wellbeing training is available to public, private and third-sector organisations. Training is designed to be delivered in a group setting and can support participants both inside and outside the workplace or community setting.

We work with many types of groups and organisations, including:

  • Universities and colleges
  • Carer groups
  • Energy and construction companies
  • Housing associations
  • Community and voluntary groups.

GAMH can tailor each course to suit your group’s needs. For example, if your organisation wants to learn more about supporting colleagues with mental health challenges, we can adapt the training to focus on that.

Our mental health and wellbeing training can be delivered at your place of work or community hub in Glasgow and surrounding areas, or online.

We are always creating and updating our mental health and wellbeing training to meet people’s needs. Here are some of our most popular courses:

Mental health awareness training (1-3 hours)

This training course helps you understand what mental health means and learn about common challenges like anxiety and depression. You’ll discover how to spot signs that someone may be struggling, how to offer support, and how to look after your own mental wellbeing.

Wellbeing at work training (1-2 hours)

Our Wellbeing at Work training helps people understand what wellbeing is and how to protect it during busy or stressful times. We talk about stress, how it affects us, and ways to manage it better.

You’ll also learn how to build positive relationships at work and feel more comfortable talking about mental health with your colleagues.

Every participant will create their own Wellbeing at Work plan to help support their personal wellbeing each day.

Wellbeing Bite Size Sessions

Our shorter Bite Size Sessions are great when you don’t have time for a full course. Each session focuses on one topic:

  • Sleep and Mental health: This training explores sleep, how sleep impacts our mental health and wellbeing, and provides tips for improving sleep.
  • Basic Mental health awareness: This training explores what mental health is and what affects it, what to look out for in ourselves and others, what supports our wellbeing, and things we can do to look after ourselves.
  • Self-compassion and self-care: This training looks at how self-criticism can impact on our wellbeing and how we can bring more self-compassion and self-care into our lives.
