Accessibility guidelines

We are committed to making our own website usable by all people, whatever their abilities or disabilities.

Find the right assistive technology to customise this site to your needs

While the site has been created to be usable ‘as is’, many people are likely to get the most accessible experience of using this site by customising their computer to suit their individual needs – for example: to get the site spoken to them, to change its colour-scheme, or increase the size of its fonts.

If that sounds like it would be useful to you, we recommend you visit BBC My Web, My Way to watch videos of how these customisations – either using accessibility features of your computer or through installing assistive technologies – might suit you.

Toggle buttons for high-contrast and larger fonts

Low contrast between the background of the website and it’s text can make it very difficult for users with low vision or other visual disabilities. Whilst we have created the site to produce a high contrast experience for all our users we have included the functionality to increase that contrast even further if required.

If the text size is is too large or too small we recommend that you increase the default text size in your browser.

If you find anything on the site difficult to use please let us know in the contact form below using ‘Site problem report’ as the subject.

In order for us to address any issues you are having with the site as quickly as possible we need some details about the difficulties you are having. Here is a sample message which outlines the kind of information we need.
