Fairwork First
Fair Work First Practices are embedded in all GAMH business and employment practices both with our workforce and any suppliers and agencies we contract with. Our commitment is reflected in our attainment of Gold Standard Investors in People (IIP) accreditation, and we also hold an IIP in Health and Wellbeing Award. We are proud to be an early adopter of the Scottish Living Wage and we meet our commitment to accreditation every year. The organisation was also chosen by the Scottish Government as an exemplar Fair Work Employer in 2018.
GAMH is alert to the issues faced by people seeking employment particularly those people who are long term unemployed and those who have additional issues which make it difficult to attract employment , e.g. people with disabilities. We attend Job Fairs organised by Job Centre Plus at least annually to highlight and promote job opportunities in GAMH and have also supported people at events to complete job applications. We encourage people with disabilities to apply for GAMH vacancies and we currently employ people with physical and mental health issues who are supported by Access to Work to assist them to sustain their employment with us.
We also encourage people who are volunteering with GAMH to apply for paid positions and have 5 staff members currently who have accessed employment into GAMH from this route.
Our Fair Work First Practices are summarised below and together with our workforce and people we support we strive to enhance and strengthen these every year in GAMH.
